What is the Draft Common Frame of Reference Warsaw International Arbitration Moot?

The Draft Common Frame of Reference Warsaw International Arbitration Moot (DCFR Moot) is a new international moot involving the procedural issues of arbitration and the Draft Common Frame of Reference. The main characteristic of the moot is the simulation of arbitral proceedings based on the Draft Common Frame of Reference as well as the Rules of the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce in Warsaw. The DCFR Moot is organised by the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Chamber of Commerce and the European Leag Studies Institute in Osnabrück.

Moot Proceedings

The competition takes place in two phases. Following the announcement of the problem question in April, the written memoranda are prepared. in May, the Memorandum for the Claimant is submitted. The team receives a Memorandum from another team, to which it responds in June with a Memorandum for the Respondent.
The memoranda are graded by the competition judges and the eight teams with the highest scores qualify for the second phase.
In the second phase, the oral pleadings are prepared for the competition in Warsaw. The training sessions are held at the University of the team. The pleadings are held in three rounds (preliminary, semi-final, final). In the first round, all eight teams argue twice, as claimant and respondent. Four teams proceed to the next round, where they argue for a place in the final round.
