Moot Courts

What is a Moot?

A Moot Court is a competition for law students. It is a simulation of a judicial proceeding, either in litigation or in arbitration. In this simulation, students from different universities take the part of the lawyers. They therefore prepare written statements and defend their clients in oral hearings.

Moot Courts can be local, national and international competitions. The bigger Moot Court count over 1000 participants. In lots of countries, mooting is an essential part of the legal education. Participating in such a competition increases not only rhetorical and language skills but also gives students the possibility to practise their legal skills within a team and often in fields of law which are unkown to them.
